What's New in OAS Platform 22

Configure it in a browser, secure it end to end, and run it faster. OAS Platform 22 adds a full browser-based configuration app, TLS across every interface, direct streaming into Snowflake, an AI-ready endpoint and an optimized engine, so the same hardware does more and the system explains itself as you build it.

  • Zero install Browser-based configuration
  • 6 interfaces Encrypted end to end
  • AES-256 Transportable configurations
  • Seconds OPC UA browse, down from minutes

Web Configuration App

Run OAS from any browser, with nothing to install

A full, browser-based configuration tool for local or remote engines: tags, drivers, logging, alarms, security and recipes, plus a health dashboard, a live watch window, and guidance that lives right on the form.

Overview & Health dashboard

An at-a-glance status check of every subsystem, with a proactive Configuration Review that catches provable mistakes before they bite, and guided troubleshooting on each tile when something needs attention.

Tag Grid - edit hundreds of tags at once

A spreadsheet-style editor: pick the columns you care about, find and replace across the grid, paste a block straight from Excel, and apply to every tag in one operation instead of editing them one at a time.

Guided troubleshooting that answers itself

When a driver won't connect or tags read Bad, the Overview doesn't just report it. It walks a protocol-specific decision tree to the fix, answering every step it can and pausing only for the checks that need a person on site. Every path ends at a specific fix or a one-click support package.

  • Auto - from the configuration, a live probe or a logged error
  • Operator - a check only you can make on site
  • Live test - OAS runs the experiment
new

Configuration validation as you type

A proactive linter flags provable mistakes at configuration time, naming each one on the form before you rely on it, instead of leaving you to chase a silent failure later.

The configuration explains itself

A Get Started roadmap on every page and an information icon on every field, with descriptions drawn from the engine itself, so the help is always accurate and never drifts out of date.

Local or remote, one browser

Target the local engine or any OAS node on your network from the node selector, and configure multiple systems from one place, alongside the desktop tool if you prefer.

Security & Certificates

Encryption everywhere OAS communicates, on your own schedule

A new Secure Comms page brings TLS to every interface, a Certificates hub makes the whole certificate picture visible and warns before anything expires, and OAS can now create certificates and set up mutual TLS in a single step, because it owns both ends.

Secure Comms - see and secure every interface in one place

Each interface is shown with its live posture and a one-step path to lock it to secure-only, actively closing the plaintext port instead of just offering an alternative.

  • REST
  • UI Engine & WebSockets
  • Binary channel
  • MCP
  • UDP (AES-256-GCM)
  • OPC UA

Certificates - inventory, expiry alerts and trust

Every certificate OAS uses in one list, with days to expiry and status. A daily sweep warns at 30, 14 and 7 days and raises a real alarm, so a certificate never quietly expires and drops a connection.

new

Create certificates and one-click mutual TLS

Create a certificate in the app without OpenSSL, with SANs pre-filled from the host. Trust a client on the OAS MQTT broker or OPC UA server in one click, with nothing to copy between machines.

Encrypted database connections

SQL Server is always encrypted; PostgreSQL, MariaDB and MongoDB gain a simple Enable SSL. One Trust Server Certificate switch governs them all, and nothing changes until you ask.

new

Trust a database server's certificate

Validate a database connection against a certificate you trust, scoped to one server and reversible, with no changes to the Windows trust store and no effect on anything else.

Data & Connectivity

More ways in, more ways out, and proof it's actually working

Push alarms to the tools your team already uses, see exactly when data is buffered and when it is lost, test a connection before you rely on it, and move a whole working configuration to a new machine in one operation.

Alarm notifications to Teams & Slack

Alongside email, SMS and voice, post alarms straight to a chat channel, or to any JSON webhook for automation platforms and ticketing. Acknowledge right from the card, attributed and audited.

  • Microsoft Teams
  • Slack
  • Generic JSON webhook

Store & Forward - buffered or lost, now you can tell

When a database drops or a broker is unreachable, OAS buffers and forwards, and now shows it, instead of hiding real data loss behind a generic error.

  • Buffering - safe, and forwarded when the connection returns
  • Discarding - data rejected and lost

Test before you rely on it

Test a database connection, verify the table or stored procedure against your field map, and see recent rows before saving. Read-only, and safe while logging is running.

OPC UA - discover servers

Enter a host and let OAS find the OPC UA servers on it, then pick one, instead of typing the full opc.tcp:// endpoint URL by hand.

new

System Export / Import

Package a complete working configuration into one AES-256 archive and restore it on a new machine, or pull it straight from a connected engine with no file to move. The target backs itself up first, so it is reversible.

Drivers

Stream straight into Snowflake, and put Kafka on a schema

A new Snowflake driver writes live data directly into your tables over Snowpipe Streaming, and the Kafka driver now speaks Schema Registry and Avro, so every message is compact, typed and understood by whatever consumes it.

new

Snowflake - live data into the cloud, with no pipeline to build

Stream tag data directly into Snowflake through the high-speed Snowpipe Streaming REST API, with no staging files, no batch loads and no middleware to maintain. Map each field to the table column it belongs in, and every row travels over an encrypted connection.

  • Snowpipe Streaming REST API
  • Field-level table mapping
  • Secure communications
updated

Kafka - schema-aware, and lighter on the wire

Register and validate message schemas with Schema Registry support, map OAS data to your schema field by field, and send it as compact Avro binary instead of text, so the same data uses less bandwidth and downstream consumers know exactly what they are reading.

  • Schema Registry
  • Field-level schema mapping
  • Avro binary encoding

AB Smart driver

High-performance symbolic access to ControlLogix and CompactLogix over EtherNet/IP, with multi-tag batching, bad-tag isolation and adaptive polling that protects the PLC without hand tuning.

Performance & AI

A faster engine, an AI endpoint and a record of every change

The engine was optimized end to end for higher throughput and steadier memory, an OPC UA browse that used to stall for minutes now returns in seconds, AI assistants can read live data over MCP, and a tamper-evident Audit Trail answers what changed, and who changed it.

Optimized

A faster engine, and a browse that no longer stalls

Hot paths across driver polling, tag processing, logging and IoT publishing were reworked to cut CPU and memory churn. An OPC UA client that walked the address space at connect used to wait 90 seconds or more; the browse is now serviced in-thread.

~1 sFull address-space browse of a 365-tag configuration, down from ~128 s

MCP - AI and LLM integration

A Model Context Protocol endpoint lets AI assistants and tooling read OAS data directly, now with its own TLS listener on a configurable secure port, served with the node's own certificate.

Audit Trail - tamper-evident change history

Every configuration change and operator action, chained with SHA-256 so any edit to the record is detectable: who, what, when, from which app and host, with before and after values for each item.

System performance counters

Host and engine health - CPU, memory, disk, network and garbage collection - as ordinary OAS tags sampled once a second. Trend, log, alarm on and route them like any device tag.

OAS Platform 22 - the whole system, more visible and more secure

Configuration from any browser, encryption on every interface, a faster engine, and an audited record of it all, adoptable at your own pace, with nothing turned on until you ask.
